Telling the story of our lives in everything that we do...

In our constant quest to be different from one another, people have begun to tell the story of their lives in every thing that they do. This phenomenon has been given the name "narrativism." An article on PSFK articulates this concept as it pertains to clothing, however, I believe it extends much further into other aspects of our lives.

The key is that not only do people want to express themselves and tell their story, but they also want (or hope) their story to be unique. Thus, big brands just won't do. Smaller brands need to leverage this idea to help their customers become "narrativists." Also, this idea could breathe new life to industries that have become commoditized.
